Jehad Abu Dayya is a medical student and poet from Gaza. He was displaced from Gaza City on October 13th, 2023, and is currently still displaced in Deir Albalah in South Gaza. His debut poetry collection in Arabic: مذبوح في هامش الوقت was published by the Palestinian Ministry of Culture. Exploring war, displacement, love, loss, and distance, the book is available in print in the West Bank.

Eva Abu Mariam is a writer, a poet, and a freshman at dentist school. She believes that human beings have features that deserve to be eternal; this is why she writes. She has been writing since she was young, and poetry has become a part of her identity. Her writings have appeared in We Are Not Numbers and Andaleeb Cartonera.

Lubna Ahmad Abu Dahrouj is a Palestinian student who lives in the Gaza Strip. She likes to write in English, and is passionate about writing poetry. Her writings have appeared in Baladi, Electronic Intifada, and We Are Not Numbers. Lubna aspires to become a translator and dreams of earning a master’s degree at a university in Britain.

Haneen Alisawi is a passionate content writer and English-Arabic translator whose heart beats for words. She sees them as the hidden bond knitting humans together. Words solely have the ability to liberate souls or shackle them, in her belief. To her, to write is to live. She has contributed to We Are Not Numbers, Mondoweiss, and The Electronic Intifada.

Mariam Mohammed Al-Khatib is a Palestinian writer, poet, and dental student currently based in Egypt. A survivor of genocide and displacement, she uses literature as a form of resistance and a vessel for memory. Her work has appeared in We Are Not Numbers, Avery Review, This Week in Palestine, and Palestine Deep Dive.

Shahd Alnaami is a Palestinian writer based in Gaza. She is an English literature and translation student at the Islamic University of Gaza, currently living amid the hardship of the genocide. The first edition of her zine, “The Writings of Shahd Alnaami,” has traveled to fourteen countries, including the US and UK, Germany, Mexico, Ireland, Serbia, and Portugal. The second edition is ready for distribution and will be translated into Italian, French, Spanish, and German. Shahd contributes works to Al Jazeera, We Are Not Numbers, and Mondoweiss.

Khaled Al-Qershali is an ambitious Palestinian writer from the besieged Gaza. He studies literature and English language at the Islamic University of Gaza. Khaled was a student of Dr. Refaat Alareer, whom Israel killed. Israel also killed Khaled’s best friends, Mohammed Hamo and Abdallah Al-Khaldi. For Khaled, writing can be used as a tool to resist the occupation. He has contributed to We Are Not Numbers, Baladi Magazine, The Electronic Intifada, and Palestine Nexus.

Sondos A. Al-Saqqa, a voice emanating from the vibrant heart of Gaza, was born on January 9th, 1995. She has lived through numerous wars, including the latest devastating war. She cherishes reading, writing, and conversations with friends. Her debut book, Aerie Tales, was first published in Japan in September of 2024 in collaboration with its illustrator Ken Tanaka, and has gone on to be sold around the world with translations into multiple languages including Japanese, Chinese, French, Italian, German, and Catalan. Her latest book, The Heart’s Gaze, is illustrated by Ken Tanaka and Maya Lall.

Taqwa A. Al-Wawi is a Palestinian writer and poet from Gaza, and a nineteen-year-old English Literature student at the Islamic University of Gaza. Through her writing, she strives to amplify Gaza’s voice and shed light on stories too often left untold. In addition to contributing to We Are Not Numbers, her work has appeared in leading outlets such as The Electronic Intifada, Mondoweiss, The Markaz Review, Al Jazeera English, The Palestine Chronicle, and The Massachusetts Review to name a few. Taqwa’s poetry has also been published by Baladi Magazine and Opol.

Dima Maher Ashour is a literature student and proud to have studied under Dr. Refaat Alareer, whose guidance and vision continue to inspire her. She is passionate about passing words into the world. Dima’s writings have appeared in We Are Not Numbers and The Electronic Intifada.

Esraa El-Banna is an English literature student, writer, and artist from Gaza. She was displaced from Gaza City on October 13th, 2023, and is currently still displaced in Deir Albalah in South Gaza. She resorted to drawing comics as a style of simplicity that can depict any issue to put facts and stories smoothly in the hands of the world and be more free in her lines with simple tools. She has written for We Are Not Numbers.

Abdelfattah Fadel is a medical student and writer who is learning how to heal bodies while trying to write his way through the pain inside himself. He writes when words are all he has left, when silence becomes too heavy to bear. Paper and pen are his way to survive, to say what cannot be spoken. In every line, he leaves a piece of himself and his thoughts, as if he is slowly healing from inside.

Samah Zaqout is a Palestinian writer, translator, and lecturer based in Gaza. She graduated from the Faculty of Arts, English literature, as one of the top students, and worked as an English lecturer at the university, a translator at a local institution, and an online tutor on Preply. Samah shares her writings on Medium and Substack and has contributed to Politics Today, Electronic Intifida, and We Are Not Numbers.
