Malak Mamdouh

A translation student who lives in the space between languages, searching for meanings that go beyond words. She believes translation is not simply about transferring a text, but about listening closely to its spirit and building bridges between experiences and hearts.

“I write because writing gives me room to breathe, and because in language I find a small home where I can make sense of my feelings and questions. I strive to turn my emotions into words that endure—words that touch what is often left unspoken and carry stories with honesty and humanity.

I often choose to express my work in English, shaping it through translation so it can reach further and connect with more hearts.”

Malak is the author of Fragments of a Soul, illustrated by Michelle Chen.

Fragments of a Soul

A work that laments and comforts the soul through poetic song. Beautifully composed in flawless rhythmic, rhyming verse, these poems escape the bounds of burden and affliction and reach toward the mercy of higher judgement.

To my family and friends, to those who loved me through the silence and those who understand it, and to all who are still learning how to belong
