Poignant poems offer the dead a taste of what they should have known in life: dignity, understanding, intimacy, compassion, and joy. A poet’s eye never falls out of love with the land and its people, no matter the trials they endure, no matter how distantly they are beholden. A photo of Jerusalem suffices as bread for the spirit until enemy-fortified borders fall and the gaze of the moon is not the only exit out of Gaza.

Letter to the Reader
My dear reader,
Because we are humans.
Because we are not just news.
Because we are live under the same sky,
And look at the same sun.
And because our words are stronger than anything.
