If you read with an open heart, you may find yourself walking among us. My poems got tired of being buried under nights no one stayed awake for. They were known only to the walls, to the cries that split the dark, to the kind of silence that follows explosions. So they left me—escaped the rubble and found their way here, looking for someone who still listens. What you’re holding isn’t poetry; it’s what refused to die.
