Breathe

Illustrated by Anuxsha Bhagwat. Edited by Fatima Hijas. Layout by Erika Biasizzo. Copyright: March, 2026 (34 pages).

Both a personal project and a showcase of the author’s skills in creative writing, storytelling, narrative journalism, and documenting. It is called Breathe because when our world collapses around us, we often feel besieged, unable to speak or even take a breath. We feel as if we are suffocating. Writing becomes the way to breathe, survive, and give voice to stories that need to be heard. Comprised of poems and articles published in various media outlets.

Editions: English

Letter to the Reader

I hope you like the stories in Breathe. I am actively seeking opportunities to grow in the fields of journalism, editing, creative writing, and translation. If my pieces resonate with you, I would be grateful for the chance to collaborate, contribute, or work with you. Please feel free to reach out through email or social media— I welcome any opportunity to develop my craft and support meaningful projects.

After thanking Allah, I give big thanks to my Mom and Dad, Samer and Diana Zaina. Big thanks to Leila Boukarim, the supervisor who opened up unimaginable opportunities for me and other writers, to my great team: Fatima Hijas, the editor, Anuxsha Bhagwat, illustrator, and Erika Biasizzo, graphic designer.
